A review of the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor can't go by without noting the amazing Bodyhaven Spa.

Managed by Ana Maria Moore, Bodyhaven has been part of the hotel for just over seven years and, as Ana Maria says, is on a mission to "assist men and women discover truly healthy skin and encourage them to find their individual sense of wellness".

Back in 2004 when KiaOra (then Air New Zealand Magazine) reviewed spas around New Zealand, we rated Bodyhaven among the best – and that's before the arrival of their latest signature treatment, the Copper Signature Bath. Using what is currently the only true French-style copper bath in New Zealand, this experience complements a massage and bodywrap treatment to leave you with a floating feeling that will last for hours - don't expect to take on any major sightseeing activities after this!

It's the subtle differences Bodyhaven offers that make it such a delight - like the relaxing brew of Earl Grey tea with rose petals, cloves, grated ginger and a dash of cane-honey, accompanied by chocolate coated Turkish delights, served at the end of our treatment. And if you’re lucky enough to have Ana Maria as your consultant, you’ll witness first-hand her passion for her products and treatments.

We loved the experience so much that we wanted to replicate it as closely as we could back home. With plans to expand Bodyhaven around New Zealand and into Ecuador at the end of this year, and into Qatar the next, don't be surprised if you soon hear a lot more about this heavenly spa.
